The Legend of Tom Ring

I was born and raised in Allentown. My mother was a homemaker. My Father worked as an Allentown Police Officer. When it came time to leave the nest for college the financial burden was too heavy for my family to bear.

I decided to join Marine Corp., and due to unfortunate series of event it was detected that I had a serious heart condition that would keep me from service.

I needed a source of income and decided to get into the car business. As the years went on I quickly discovered how unscrupulous car dealers ruined the lives of good people. At that point I felt like there was nothing I could do.

As the years continued and my heart condition perpetually worsened doctors felt that they could only moderately manage it with medication.

In 2006 it was no longer manageable. The combination of long hours, stress, and still the lack of customer satisfaction was getting to be too much. The doctors came to me and said they had a risky procedure that could save my life, but would seriously alter my quality of life. I decided to get out of the car business.

As I lay in the recovery room for days, I began to think about what I was going to do with rest of my life. My obligation was first to my family. I also began to realize how I did truly love the car business and friends I made over the years.

I made the decision to stay in the car business only if I could do so on my terms...

Within a year’s time I put my money where my mouth was and purchased Brown Daub Kia in Easton, PA.

The only way I was going to make a true difference is if I was calling the shots. I choose the Brown Daub organization solely because of their already unshaken reputation for putting the customer first.

Right there I decided there has to be a better way. I left the past behind me and began my transformation into the “Consumer Watch Dog”.

The Consumer Watch Dog was conceived as an ordinary person and given great power. The power to help customers beat dealers at their own game.

That’s the legend of Tom Ring the “Consumer Watch Dog”
